ā˜€ļø Summer of AI in Review

A Special Edition

This is the 15th issue of The Multidisciplined! Thanks for sticking with us.

For the past ~4 months, weā€™ve had a ton of fun while testing out and reviewing the most innovative AI tools on the market. As we close out the summer, we're excited to share our AI Tools Library, a (free) directory that the community can use to find tools for their workflow. Going forward, weā€™ll update the library weekly, providing you with a dependable list of AI tools.

 šŸ”Ø The AI Tools Library

As of August 29th, 2023, we have 38 tools in the AI Tools Library. The tools listed on this spreadsheet:

  • Have been screened by us for high-utility

  • Have potential for a lot of future development

  • Were featured in a newsletter issue of The Multidisciplined

In the sheet, youā€™ll find product/feature descriptions, pricing information, and our thoughts on who the products would be most helpful for.

We donā€™t use 38 tools every single day, of course. We just want to be knowledgeable about which tools are appropriate for different projects and workflows. We do have a handful of tools that we use very regularly - sharing our top 5 below.

šŸ˜€ Our Top 5 AI Tools:

  • ChatGPT - General use

    • We needed to include the obvious because itā€™s still the best LLM with the most expansive set of training data.

    • If you only have $20/month to spend on AI, ChatGPT Premium is unquestionably where that money should go.

    • We treat ChatGPT as a co-worker, chatting with it several times a day to brainstorm, write, plan, and optimize our work.

    • This is the only tool where our skill level, not the quality of the model, is the limiting reagent, and improving your prompting consistently produces improved results.

  • Gamma - Slidedeck Generator

    • Gamma was the winner of our AI Slidedecks Issue because of its sleek designs and high-quality text generation.

    • Weā€™ve all spent countless hours trying to optimize our slide decks. Gamma streamlines this process so you can focus on the content rather than fixing every pixel.

    • If you work in a more traditional industry, you might want to look at some of the other generators, but we love the style of Gamma.

  • AdCreative - Creative Asset Generator

    • Having worked on creative and paid media teams, watching AdCreative use a little bit of context to generate sleek creative assets was astonishing. Like - ā€œThis would revolutionize an entire businessā€™s workflow.ā€ astonishing.

    • Itā€™s never going to be as editorially beautiful as the product from a creative director, but we believe that paid media has gotten pretty formulaic and doesnā€™t always need to be focused on aesthetics. This would be a big multiplier for any business.

  • Fireflies - Meeting Documentation

    • Fireflies records and transcribes your meetings and then uses AI to create high-utility meeting summaries.

    • Weā€™ve found that it saves a lot of time and allows us to retain more value from our meetings.

    • This could be a lifesaver, especially if you work with a large/asynchronous team and want to ensure you keep a database of institutional knowledge to keep everyone synced.

  • Magical - Automation Assistant

    • Weā€™re still discovering what Magical has to offer and are skilling up, but itā€™s already offering big improvements in repetitive tasks.

    • The integrations with your general workflow make it feel more like a handy sidekick rather than a separate set of tasks to deal with.

Thatā€™s all for this week. See you next Tuesday for our regular programming!
