šŸ“ Happy 2024 + Some changes around here

šŸš€ A new format

šŸ¤– New Year ā†’ New Format

Happy 2024!

As we enter the new year, weā€™ve been reflecting on what weā€™ve done already and where we want to go in the future. Today, we are sharing an update about some changes that will be coming to ā€˜The Multidisciplinedā€™ moving forward.

Shift in Focus ā†’ Shift in Content Structure

Early on in writing the newsletter, we decided on a structure that we stuck to through 2023. In 2024, weā€™ve decided to move away from this set format to focus more on delivering value and doing things we find exciting.

Why?

  1. Slowdown in new AI tools that meet our testing standards

    1. There was a frenzy of development in 2023, and it was fun to stay close to the action. Early in the year, there were more tools released than we could possibly test, but over the past couple of months, we havenā€™t found as many that we are excited to experiment with. This isnā€™t a result of fewer tools being released onto the market, but rather the result of existing tools being far enough along that new tools need to do a lot more to add value.

    2. Increasingly, we found ourselves writing about ChatGPT, which is a great tool but not our main purpose.

  2. There are plenty of AI newsletters now out there that will give you news updates and prompting tips. Weā€™ll be moving away from that, but here are our favorite ā€˜AI newsā€™ newsletters you should follow:

    1. Superhuman

    2. The Neuron

    3. Prompt Engineering Daily

  3. We started The Multidisciplined to learn more about Artificial Intelligence and to work on projects that we found exciting. The limitation of the weekly structure stopped us from pursuing projects and research that would require a longer project duration. Our focus in 2024 will be:

    1. Thinking more deeply and doing more extensive research on AI x culture, AI x history, AI x politics etc.

    2. Working on more complex projects that canā€™t be completed endā†’end in a single week.

    3. Experimenting with additional content types and formats.

Thatā€™s all for this week. See you next Tuesday!
