🤯 Unlock explosive Instagram growth with AI

Put your social media on auto-pilot

The TLDR

Highlight: We launched @themultidisciplined on Instagram a week ago and have been super impressed by how easy the workflow can be, thanks to our AI tools. Mastering social media growth is crucial for every entrepreneur, and today, we're sharing 5 time-saving tips for Instagram growth. (Give us a follow!)

Musing of the Week: AI wearables are actually functional now, but do they have a place in the real world? Humane debuted its wearable pin at Paris Fashion Week, and we have thoughts…

📲 AI for social media will save your sanity

We’ve been meaning to launch an Instagram account for a while, but both of us have worked with digital marketing (pre-AI) so the notion of traditional content planning, creation, and management was incredibly daunting. After finally taking the plunge to launch @themultidisciplined on Instagram last week, we committed to building a workflow that helps us stay consistent on social media sans burnout. Now we’re on an AI-fueled Instagram growth journey, and we’ll continue to report back as we make progress.

It’s only been 7 days since launch, but we’ve been very happy with our process and the results:

  • An average of 13-minute total watch time on our Reels

  • 12 more newsletter subscribers (welcome!)

  • Several new creator friends from IG universe

  • <1 minute to create some of our best-performing Reels

Here’s our current tech stack (simple is best):

  • Canva - graphic design and asset creation (we use Canva Pro, the paid version, but freemium Canva is more than enough for beginners)

  • ChatGPT - idea, strategy, and caption generation

  • Buffer - scheduling our posts in advance

  • ElevenLabs - adding audio to our posts to boost engagement

And most importantly, here our top 5 tips from the first week:

  1. Use Canva Pro to bulk-create posts, Reels, and Stories

    • New accounts (like ours) need to build a brand identity by having a consistent look, which is why templated posts are actually great (not lazy!).

    • We used bulk-create to make 100 Reels in 45 minutes. This gives us content for the next 2-3 months. This has been the ultimate time-saver.

    • We focus on Reels because they seem to be ‘discovered’ by non-followers at a higher rate than posts.

    • Bulk-create tutorial from Canva linked here

  2. Use Buffer AI or ChatGPT to come up with on-brand captions

    • Because we schedule our posts in Buffer, we’ve also been using Buffer AI’s ability to ideate, edit, and reformat high-impact captions.

    • ChatGPT is also adept at writing social media captions and will perform even better if you give it a context document with your company information (mission, vision, products) and some examples of captions that have performed well for you in the past.

  3. Use ChatGPT to come up with engagement questions

    • The IG algorithm is a mystery, but we do know that broadening your sphere of engagement is a proven way to increase the engagement that comes back to you.

    • We picked 10 awesome medium-sized creators in our field and engage on their posts every day. To speed up this task, sometimes we’ll ask ChatGPT to help us formulate some replies and thoughtful questions.

  4. Use ManyChat’s AI assistant to field DMs

    • ManyChat has been on our radar, and we plan to implement it once we reach our follower milestone. ManyChat is basically a tool that helps you unlock the power of Instagram DMs to attract quality leads, drive sales, and have better 1-1 conversations with your followers.

    • If you already have a large following, you need to start turning your followers into dollars!

  5. Use ChatGPT to ideate A/B tests

    • Lastly, we’re big on experimenting. We run an A/B test every single day to get more information on our audience. We’re always looking for more information on variables to test, and ChatGPT can help you ideate and implement new tests.

    • For example, we gave ChatGPT a post caption and had it give us 2 versions with different CTAs. We posted both and were able to quickly figure out which one resonated more with our audience.

🧠 Musing of the Week

On January 9th, 2007, Steve Jobs stepped onto a stage in San Francisco and revealed the first iPhone, kicking off a smartphone arms race that has fundamentally changed how we communicate. Many companies have tried to build the ‘next iPhone,’ but even 16 years later, Apple still controls a huge portion of the smartphone market and steers public opinion.

For massive companies that have tried and failed to break into the market, wearables offer the tantalizing potential to shift the power dynamics. Over the past few weeks, a slew of new wearable AI tech has been announced from companies like Meta, Rewind, and Humane, with each device pushing to be the next iPhone.

However, we aren’t convinced that these new wearables are the next step. Like the Google Glass and smartwatches before them, they seem more like an accessory to our smartphones than a replacement. The fact that these wearables need to be voice-activated or use projections on inconsistent surfaces actually seems like more of an inconvenience. Like the touchscreen on the iPhone, our interfaces need to take a big step forward before these pieces of technology seem like a functional replacement for the comfort of our smartphones.

  • Drippi.ai - AI Assistant for your X (aka Twitter) DMs

  • AI2sql - Use simple language to create complex SQL queries

  • Viable - Actionable AI powered insights from customer feedback

That’s all for this week. See you next Tuesday!
