🔍 Write Custom Cold Emails Instantly

We’ve both had to write a ton of cold outreach emails in our prior lives as investors and startup founders, and they’re not the most riveting part of the job. They’re super necessary, but the learnings and fun conversations always happen after the cold email process.

This week, we’re sharing a prompt that you can copy and use to generate a lot of custom cold emails at once. In our example for this week, we pretended to be from a software Sales team - but you could apply this tactic to anything that could benefit from cold emails, like networking, recruiting talent, job hunting, deal sourcing, etc.

🥸 Here’s the workflow:

1. Gather your materials:

   • Excel file with clean data set of contacts, email addresses, and relevant notes about the industry or person

   • Sales outreach email template

2. Start a new chat with ChatGPT-4 and make sure the plug-in “Advanced Data Analysis” is turned on

   • Advanced Data Analysis was previously known as Code Interpreter

3. Prompt ChatGPT to write a custom sales email for each contact and presented all of the finished emails in Doc or CSV form (whichever you prefer for your workflow). Be sure to upload the Excel file of contact information.

🧠 Musing of the Week

While "The Multidisciplined” primarily focuses on personal AI tools, enhancing individual productivity, AI has implications far beyond personal use. It's becoming increasingly difficult to avoid its presence as AI cameras begin to pervade public spaces, presenting both opportunities and ethical challenges.

On one hand, AI allows us to achieve things that would be impossible with only human labor. In WA, OR, and CO, AI systems are already successfully identifying and preventing the spread of wildfires in their earliest stages, and promising AI-driven medical diagnostic tools are being developed to help medical professionals catch diseases earlier.

However, these victories have been accompanied by a number of failures, putting into question the ethical implementations of this mass, stealthy AI. In Queensland, Australia, the deployment of AI traffic cameras spiraled into controversy as over 1800 people received undeserved traffic tickets and even license suspensions from the automated system. They’re working to remedy the error, but it could still have long-lasting effects on some of the impacted people who might have lost jobs and opportunities due to the inability to travel.

Despite similar controversies, many places, including the UK and Santa Monica, are rolling out AI traffic cameras. Similar programs for monitoring crime, worker productivity, and our presence in public spaces are also in the works.

The line between benefit and unchecked intrusion is opaque, and it seems likely that we’ll see many more of these controversies surface in the coming years. As we develop and implement AI tools, it will be increasingly important to consider when we find it acceptable to exchange privacy for convenience and when we find it necessary to preserve privacy instead.
